New Non-Insulin-Treated Diabetes Mellitus Form

In a recent announcement, the Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (DOT/FMCSA) introduced a form that could impact commercial drivers with non-insulin-treated diabetes. The Non-Insulin-Treated Diabetes Mellitus Assessment Form, MCSA-5872, has been introduced as an optional tool for medical examiners to gather additional information on the diagnosis, monitoring, and stability of drivers with this condition. This change aims to assist medical examiners in determining if a driver meets the physical qualification standards outlined in 49 CFR 391.41.
